(na engleskom) RE: „Polish Your Postings, Please“

so yesterday ive found this post while browsing the internet. and i must say it’s been a while since i’ve seen a more stupid take than this. you do understand you’re reading random people’s blogs, and not a fucking academic publishing, right? why do you have such a high expectations of random, regular people!?

you do realize the vast majority of people aren’t native speakers? do you? you do realize a lot of people have communication and expression issues? do you? my english is, without any fake humbleness quite damn good, but i do not give a single shit about your guy’s grammar, or rules. i want to type as i talk, as i think. polishing would remove that from my texts.

what do you even mean by „polished“? you say that you do not want to read things that seem like they’re thrown in like five minutes, but your entire rant reads exactly like the very things you refuse to read. isn’t that so hypocritical now? because i think it is.

„I want to get a deeper understanding of why you are thinking these things, what impact they have on you, and how you think things should change moving forward.“ so people who aren’t able to sufficiently and proficiently express and explain their understanding of the world, their understanding of their opinions, according to you shouldn’t write at all? don’t you realize how exclusionary that shit sounds? do you? you westoids are all like „peace, love, understanding“, unless someone is not capable enough, i guess. a blog post doesn’t need to be anything deeper. the sooner you realize that, the better. i really don’t understand you people. you all want for more people to get into personal websites and personal writing and then i see bullshit takes like yours. this will drive people away from writing. it’s doing the opposite of what you want it to achieve. the sooner you realize that, the better.

„I like articles to have between 1,000 and 4,000 words, but must be written concisely and efficiently with perfect grammar“ fuck you and fuck your perfect grammar. it’s not that im incapable; im unwilling to do so. lowercase writing is of no issue to most people, i guess you are an exception to it lmao. expecting a perfect grammar is really disgusting things to expect. not even every native speaker is capable of doing so, let alone people who speak it at a L2. you are really being unfair.

„I want to read black (or dark grey) text on white (or very light pastel) backgrounds, in a basic clear font“ okay, i actually the first thing i agree with you. i hate darkmode. pastel bg and gray text is the way to go. the only way to go.

but i still think most of your expectations are too much to ask for. you want concise titles, concise URIs, actual concise and deeply developed writing. i don’t know i think you ask for too much. not everyone can write well, for various reasons. tell me. do you think those people don’t deserve to write? who do you actually think people need to have it concise and polished? through your whole post, i understood what you expect from the posts, but you didn’t really explain why. doesn’t that, in itself crash with your very own expectations? correct me if i am wrong but i see it that way.

blogs are meant for personal expression, not for things to be perfect. nothing and no one is perfect. not me, not your, not anyone else. i genuinely think you have too big of expectations for personal blogs and personal writing. of course, that is your right. but this doesn’t mean people won’t disagree, myself included. but a disagreement is a part of discussion. discussions are important. so i am glad we’re having one right now.

earlier you said: „I seek out deep thinking on subjects including politics, mathematics, computing, science and the state of planet Earth.“ sooo. did you hear? did you see? serbia is now free!! we had 70% turnout on the elections and we voted in a change! the power of people is really interesting, don’t you think so?
